| There are 14 members of the ESDA unit that are certified First Responders |
| The first responders assist the ambulance when they are either busy on another run or need assistance with the run they are on. The First Responders are all certified by the Illinois Department of Public Health. ESDA First Responders offer assistance anywhere in the county they are needed but mainly in the Flora area. |
| In 2007, the First Responders handled 54 calls in their first full year of service. |
